Sex Positive Week Opening Reception and Not Your Momma's Sex Talk

The Continuum of Human Sexuality

Sexual Morality

Often times our religious and spiritual beliefs influence our actions, thoughts, and behaviors. This panel discussion is designed to promote a healthy and all-inclusive discussion about the intersection of sex and religious beliefs. Students will have the opportunity to ask religious leaders from diverse communities about their respective views on sex. Panelists will include members from the Interfaith Council or Central Florida and will include: Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Evangelical Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, and Unitarian.

So How Does This Feel?

Messages from religion, family, ethnicity, pop culture, society, and your friend circle may influence your views on sex.  The intersection of these different messages can lead to internal conflicts about your sexuality.  These presenters will lead you through experiential exercises to help you discover how you came to your views about sex. Speakers will discuss the how to make sense of the messages and feel comfortable with what is right for you.

Shades of Grey: From Confusion to Consent

Description: Students often know the definition of consent but when presented with real life situations the rules are difficult to apply. This interactive workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to freely discuss the grey areas of consent and its application.

Syphilis Testing

Syphilis is an STD that can cause long-term complications if not treated correctly.

County Department of Health will be here to provide FREE syphilis testing to students (while supplies last). This rapid testing is done with a quick and minimally invasive finger prick and results will be given same day.

Sex and Social Media

Learn about safety and awareness as it relates to social media apps.  From Tinder to Grindr to Ok Cupid, how do you make sure that who you're meeting is who they say they are and how do you ensure that you will be safe?  LGBTQ+ Services and Student Legal Services will come together to showcase best practices when it comes your favorite smart device applications.
