The Pre-Practicum training experience at CAPS is focused on increasing trainee familiarity with college counseling services. While clinical observation may be available on a limited basis, the primary emphasis is on providing mental health focused outreach and prevention services to the campus community. Trainees will have the opportunity to assist with CAPS’ signature events (e.g., Healthy Knight Expo, presentations, and PAWS-a-tively) as well as other programming. Trainees will also be involved in attending staff meetings, professional development seminars, and will have the opportunity to network with and learn from a clinical staff representing a variety of mental health professions (e.g., Psychologists, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT), diverse clinical experience, and a wide range of theoretical orientations.

To apply interested students should submit a CV and cover letter outlining interest, fit, and training goals to the Outreach Director

Applications are due September 7, 2016 with a tentative start date of September 23, 2016. The selection process will include in-person interviews and selected candidates will require final approval by the faculty pre-practicum coordinator.
