Application Information


Eligibility Criteria

We prefer applicants from APA accredited doctoral programs in counseling or clinical psychology. Applicants should have a minimum of at least 500 intervention hours and 25 assessment hours on the AAPI by the application due date (see below for due date). All coursework, practicum experiences and comprehensive examinations required for the doctoral degree should be completed prior to the start of internship. Applications are not considered complete until all materials are received.

Deadlines

To be considered for the internship of the academic year 2024-2025, all application materials must be uploaded on to the AAPI Online by November 1st at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Interview notification date will be sent no later than December 2nd, 2023. Internet video conference interviews (by Skype) will be set up and conducted in December and January. Match Day for this upcoming cycle is to be announced.

To be considered for UCF Doctoral Psychology Internship positions, your online APPIC application must include the following components:

  • Completed online APPIC Application for Psychology Internship (AAPI) form.
  • Cover letter stating your interest in CAPS Internship program and your training goals.
  • APPIC Academic Program’s Verification of Internship Eligibility and Readiness
  • Current vita
  • Official transcripts of all graduate work
  • Three letters of recommendation with at least 2 from licensed professionals who have supervised your clinical work.

Training Year

The internship training experience of 2024-2025 will begin August 2nd, 2024 and will end July 31st, 2025. During the internship year, interns will accrue and document a minimum of 2,000 professional hours of practice with an expectation of 500 hours of direct clinical service. Interns gain experience with a variety of direct service activities throughout the year which are described in detail below. Although there is a preset of expectations required to complete internship, the degree of involvement in some activities is negotiable and determined by the interest and experience of the intern, as well as the needs of CAPS.

CAPS provides 3 internship positions for this academic year.

Stipend and Benefits

The internship position offers a salary of $35,500 paid on a bi-weekly basis. Interns receive 10 days of combined annual leave, sick leave, and 5 days professional development leave for professional activities such as dissertation defense, and conferences. In addition, there are approximately 9 university holidays. All interns have a private office with video equipment, a personal computer linked to the University network, and library privileges.
